Why Jesus' Royal Robes Matter for Our Eternity
Jesus' Royal Clothes
But Christ came as a High Priest of there good things to come, with the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands, that is, bot of this creation. Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. -HEBREWS28:3-4
To enter the tabernacle, the priest had to wear special holy garments. Then, the high priest went into the place where God's glory was manifest in the cloud.
So you shall speak to all who are gifted artisans...that they may make Aaron's garments, to consecrate him, that he may minister to Me as priest. And these are the garments which they shall make: a breastplate, an ephod, a robe, a skillfully woven tunic, a turban, and a sash. So they shall make holy garments for Aaron your brother and his sons, that he may minister to Me as priest. -EXODUS 28:3-4
The priestly garments were designed to be holy garments that would consecrate the priests so they could minister to God. The word consecrate is of specific importance that goes directly to the revelation we receive about seeing Jesus in this garment. The aspect of the garment I want to focus on is the purity and consecration of those who minister continually before the throne of God. Those who came close to God had to be consecrated. They had to be set apart fro the rest of the people. They had to be purified. Only the holy could come before God's presence.
Beware of erroneous teachings on salvation and holy living
There are many erroneous teachings today that pervert the truth of Jesus as the High Priest who presented His blood on the altar of god so that we could be deemed not guilty for our sins. They conclude that since Jesus went to heaven "by His own blood" and "entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption" (Heb. 9:12, MEV), then that use be all that He will do. They basically teach that since all our sins are paid for, we don't ever have to worry about sin. We are free from having to live a holy life. We couldn't do it, so Jesus did it. That settles it, and now I can live my life as I see fit.
Jesus did present His blood once for all, but He also remains "a priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek" (Heb. 7:21, MEV). Just as the job of the high priest was not only to present the blood of the sacrificial lamb for the atonement of sins, but was also the minister continually to and before the Father, so too does Jesus, our eternal High Priest.
We are called as a kingdom of priests, and we are partners with Jesus in this eternal calling. The robe speaks of the purity that is required to stand in the holy of holies before the glory of God. This perfection, purity, and holiness is only available to su and imputed to us by the blood of Jesus.
